The 2024 CHRISTMAS LECTURES, supported by CGI, will explore all things food-related. From what happens in our bodies when we eat to how food has shaped human evolution. Dr Chris van Tulleken will guide us from tastebuds to toilet as we uncover The Truth about Food.
The livestreaming venues range from National Museums Scotland to Plymouth University, stretching the length and breadth of the UK.
Also confirmed are Keele University, Cambridge Museum of Technology, TechFest Aberdeen, University of Warwick, Oxford Brookes University, Science and Industry Museum, Advanced Research Cluster Harwell and Uxbridge, and UCLH.
And with tickets to watch the Lectures live in the Ri’s London theatre well over-subscribed again this year, the world’s longest-running science lecture series will reach new audiences and allow them to experience first-hand the magic of the CHRISTMAS LECTURES.
Director of the Royal Institution, Katherine Mathieson, said: “We’re thrilled to continue to build on our CHRISTMAS LECTURES Livestream project, and extremely grateful to each of our partner venues in supporting this journey. They will all bring their own unique flavour to the live filming of the world-famous CHRISTMAS LECTURES, enabling local audiences to see what goes on behind the scenes when inspiring scientists are brought together with the public.
We’re delighted to work again with some of the UK’s best science research and engagement organisations, and hope to bring the magic of the Lectures within reach of many new, and returning, audiences this year.’
Filming of the 2024 CHRISTMAS LECTURES will be livestreamed from the Royal Institution’s iconic theatre on 10, 12 and 14 December. The Lectures will be broadcast on BBC national television and iPlayer in late December.
