Climate change is one of the biggest challenges we face and it can feel overwhelming. But there are thousands of scientists, researchers and innovators across the STEM subjects working to create a better world and reduce the impact of climate change.

We're running two sessions for the next generation to get hands-on exploring the amazing science of climate innovation. These are made possible with funding from Google.org.

Climate Innovation Day: How to save the planet

10.00am - 2.00pm

School groups aged 10-12 are invited to start their day in the theatre with talks from experts working within the climate sector. Students will then get the chance to ask our panel of experts all the questions they can think of. They'll then be free to explore the demonstrations and activities around the building with scientists working in a range of different areas of STEM and discover leading-edge scientific research from around the UK.

For Your Inspiration: How to be a climate innovator

6.00pm - 9.30pm

If you're aged 13+ you can discover how you could become someone working to save the planet as a climate innovator. The evening will start in the Theatre with talks from experts working within the climate sector. You'll then get the chance to ask our panel of experts all the questions they can think of. You'll then be free to explore the demonstrations and activities around the building with scientists working in a range of different areas of STEM and discover leading-edge scientific research from around the UK.

Doors will open to the building 1 hour before the event start time.

The theatre session will take no longer than 1 hour and 30 minutes.

About these events

These events are designed for young people and offer an exciting hands-on experience of a huge range of scientific topics. Featuring scientists from Universities and companies from across the UK, these events give young people the chance to explore in depth a topic, talk to scientists working in this field, and discover the wide range of different jobs available. Adults are also welcome and encouraged to come along too, together with their young people.

Attendees will then explore the libraries on our first floor, where they will find interactive exhibits from a range of research groups and companies working in the sector. This gives you the chance to get hands-on with active research, chat with scientists, and discover what it is actually like working in science.

By booking to attend events at the Royal Institution, you confirm that you have read and accept the Ri's event terms and conditions. You also agree to abide by our code of conduct, and help to create a great experience for yourself and your fellow participants.
