Join TV Science Superstar and STEM Ambassador Emily Grossman for this fun and interactive family quiz show, as she challenges you to guess the answers and figure out the explanations for some of her favourite weird and wonderful science facts.

Packed with audience interaction and live demos, this show is guaranteed to amuse and amaze, whether you’re 7 or 70.

Copies of Emily’s books 'World-whizzing Facts: Awesome Earth Questions Answered' and 'Brain-fizzing Facts: Awesome Science Questions Answered' will be available to purchase after the talk.

Event type

This is a theatre event for children and adults to enjoy together. All young people under the age of 13 need to be accompanied by a paying adult and those aged 4 and above need a ticket to attend.

This event will be livestreamed.

About Emily Grossman

Dr Emily Grossman is a bestselling science author, acclaimed public speaker and TV personality, with a Double First in Natural Sciences from Cambridge University and a PhD in Cancer Research. She is best known as a Resident Science Expert on ITV’s ‘The Alan Titchmarsh Show’, Sky1’s ‘Duck Quacks Don’t Echo’ and Discovery Channel’s ‘How Do They Do It?’ and for her inspirational talks in schools, universities and at live events - as well as her TEDx talk on Why Science Needs People Who Cry and numerous media interviews. Emily is the author of Emergency on Planet Earth, a critically acclaimed, free, easy-to-read online guide to the climate and ecological crisis, and four books for children, including Meet the Microbes!; The Tiny Living Things That Mould Our World, Brain-Fizzing Facts: Awesome Science Questions Answered, and  World-Whizzing Facts: Awesome Earth Questions Answered, which helps young people understand what’s going on on our planet and how they can help. In 2018 Emily was named as the second Honorary STEM Ambassador, alongside astronaut Tim Peake, for her pioneering work in STEM education and as a role model to young people. She recently appeared as a guest Lecturer in the 2023 CHRISTMAS LECTURES. 

Timing

The doors will open at approximately 1.30pm, with a prompt start at 2.00pm.

Latecomers will be admitted into the gallery.

Accessibility

The event will take place on the first floor and there is step-free access from the street via lift.

The closest underground station is Green Park, which is step-free.

There is space at floor level in the theatre for wheelchair users.

Seating is usually unreserved for our events. If you and your group require seating reservations, please do let us know by emailing us at events@ri.ac.uk, and we’ll be more than happy to help.

Carers can receive a free ticket to an event by emailing events@ri.ac.uk.

Our theatre is equipped with an Audio Induction Loop.
