About the LYSC

The L'Oréal Young Scientist Centre (LYSC) is an imaginative laboratory space for young people and their teachers to experiment and explore science and technology outside the classroom.

In the LYSC workshops, students become a scientist for the day, testing their own ideas by designing creative experiments. The whole experience ignites a passion for scientific discovery and encourages curiosity-driven learning. The students can make  bath bombs, extract their own DNA, investigate forensic science, explore the chemistry of colour and much more.

Following a quieter period for the LYSC over the past 2 years, we are building back up to pre-pandemic workshop numbers and now need to expand the team.

  • Work with the LYSC Lab Technician to ensure the timely set-up and clean-up of the LYSC lab for each workshop and maintain the cleanliness of the LYSC.
  • Assist with the implementation of Ri Health and Safety procedures to ensure the safe delivery of LYSC workshops by effectively identifying and managing any risks. Update LYSC risk assessments as required.
  • Contribute to the continual development of the LYSC’s programme for children and young people by making regular improvements to the content and delivery of existing workshops and by researching and developing new content.
  • Collaborate with other teams to research, write and deliver science content for live, virtual, and recorded events in line with the charitable outcomes of the Ri.

What are we looking for?
